Trond Wuellner (@trondw), product lead for Google's Gemini Notebooks (formerly NotebookLM), said on X at 7:23 a.m. KST on August 20, 2026 that "Gemini Notebooks now comes with a built-in VM, the Antigravity coding agent, and a range of skills." The post passed 70,000 views.
It's actually a June feature
This announcement itself isn't new, though. Google officially announced a major update to Gemini Notebooks combining Gemini 3.5 and Antigravity on June 8, 2026. According to 9to5Google, each notebook gets a dedicated cloud computer that writes and runs code directly, you can pick from more than 100 skills, and you can export results in 11 formats. Trond Wuellner was also one of the people who co-announced the update at the time.
This August post is closer to a reminder of that feature. The phrase "As of today" could be mistaken for a new launch, but the actual change was more than two months ago.
Same name, different product: be careful
The Antigravity here runs in a different context from "Google Antigravity," the standalone VS Code-based agent IDE. Inside Gemini Notebooks, it works as a reasoning and orchestration engine that plans multistep tasks and calls skills. The same name is used for two products, so don't confuse them.
If you already use Gemini Notebooks to run code or organize material, you can use the agent features directly from the notebook screen with no extra setup.
