A Motion Graphics Ad Made With Claude Opus 5.5: Run NullMotion Yourself

Key takeaways

  1. 1NullMotion shows a finished motion graphics ad in sync with per-section black-and-white drafts and exports the whole preview as an MP4.
  2. 2With Node.js 22 or later, download the repository, run npm start, and export with Download → Whole preview in your browser.
  3. 3Drafts are built with HTML and GSAP, and WebCodecs and mp4-muxer create a frame-by-frame MP4.

Project author blixvip showed off a motion graphics ad finished with Claude Opus 5.5 and published the NullMotion project used to make it on GitHub. The demo shows the finished piece alongside black-and-white drafts of each scene and exports the whole preview as an MP4.

Compare the finished ad and the drafts on one screen

The NullMotion screen puts the finished ad on top and the drafts from the production stage below it. As the video plays, the draft matching the current scene among sections like Hook, Reveal, App, and End card is highlighted in step with the video's timing.

From HTML drafts to a frame-by-frame MP4

Draft scenes are built in 640×360 HTML, with motion composed on a GSAP timeline. During playback, the current scene is synced to the video's clock so that the ad and the drafts point to the same moment.

Export encodes the video with the browser's WebCodecs and assembles the MP4 file with mp4-muxer. It processes frames in order and also merges the original video's audio. So instead of recording the playback screen in real time, it can produce a file aligned to frame timing.

Run it on your own computer

You need Node.js 22 or later. For MP4 export, use Chrome or Edge, which support WebCodecs. Download the repository and start the development server.

git clone https://github.com/blixvip/NullMotion.git
cd NullMotion
npm start

Open http://127.0.0.1:4343 in your browser and check the reference. To download the MP4, choose Download → Whole preview.

Make motion drafts from your own video

The repository includes scripts that import a personal video folder and prepare scene segments and contact sheets. This flow requires Python, FFmpeg, and ffprobe.

python scripts/import-motionclone.py --source /path/to/MotionClone
node scripts/plan-sections.mjs # sections + scene cuts + contact sheets

Write the per-section draft descriptions in public/references/drafts.json. Imported video and media are managed in a local folder, and when you build a showcase that reflects what you've prepared, use npm run showcase.

HyperFrames, the draft framework

HyperFrames is an HTML-based video framework released by HeyGen. You compose scenes in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, control time frame by frame, and render them to video. NullMotion builds its per-section drafts this way.
