On August 12, 2026 (local time), at its annual event "Made by Google 26," Google unveiled the Pixel 11 series. The new lineup includes four smartphones, a newly designed Pixel Watch 5, and Pixel Tag, its first location tracker to rival Apple's AirTag. (TechCrunch)
CEO Sundar Pichai posted an introduction on X himself.
"The new Pixel 11 lineup is here. It's designed for Gemini Intelligence and has plenty of useful new features." (original post, 2026-08-12 23:48 KST)
Rick Osterloh, Google's senior vice president for platforms and devices, put it this way the same day.
"It's no longer an operating system that helps you use your phone, but an intelligence system that gets things done for you."
Selling "Intelligence," Not a Device
The emphasis of this announcement fell not on hardware specs but on the software brand Gemini Intelligence. The three headline new features are as follows.
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Rambler | Gboard-based voice input. It filters out filler words like "um" and "uh" and quickly transcribes in your natural speaking style. |
| Magic Capture | A feature that simplifies the process of taking photos. |
| HiLight | When the phone is lying face down, it alerts you with a soft glow if an important person calls. |

Google says Gemini Intelligence even handles "multi-step tasks across multiple apps." The direction goes beyond a simple voice assistant toward one that carries out work on its own in the background.
The Price Went Up by $100
The base Pixel 11 starts at $899, with base storage raised to 256 GB. The camera bar design has also changed. (Cryptonomist)
That puts the starting price $100 higher than the previous model. Google appears to be justifying the increase with the expanded AI features. Sales begin on August 20.
Rambler in Real Use Is Still Unverified
New features like Rambler and HiLight are based on what Google showed at the event. Accuracy in real-world use and the effect on battery life have not yet been checked by outside reviewers.
The scope of Gemini Intelligence's "multi-step task handling" also remains at the level of examples Google presented. The actual list of supported apps and its limits will need to be watched after release.
