The official Anthropic developer account @ClaudeDevs shared reliability improvements in a thread at 7:44 a.m. KST on August 22, 2026, saying "the thing you asked us to fix most last month was Remote Control."
Start a session right from your phone
The biggest change is that you can now start a Claude Code session directly from your phone. A machine running claude remote-control shows up as a device card at the top of the Code tab, and after you tap it and pick a directory, a session starts on that machine. Before, you had to start a session on the computer first before picking it up on your phone.
It reconnects on its own after drops
Connection stability was also improved. The connection recovers automatically even if you briefly close your laptop or switch Wi-Fi. According to the official docs, Remote Control reconnects automatically when it comes back online after the laptop sleeps or the network drops, and status updates from the interruption are queued and delivered after recovery.
When you resume a session on your laptop, your phone also stays on that live session (it used to be archived). If the Claude Code process exits, your phone shows it as offline within a few seconds.
Commands and settings carry over to your phone
The phone and CLI now sync the model and effort level, and on iOS heavy sessions open faster. Slash commands were also reworked on the phone.
| Command | What it does on the phone |
|---|---|
/clear | Clears the phone screen |
/compact | Shows the compaction point |
/diff | Opens the native diff view |
Two requests still outstanding
Reactions were mostly friendly, but the question "which reliability problems exactly did you fix?" went unanswered in the thread. Other requests are still open, such as a report that on Android the second message disappears when you send messages back to back, and requests for PowerShell and Git Bash command support. To get this update, you need to keep the CLI, desktop, and mobile apps all on the latest version.
